In my experience, I found the answer depends on whether or not there are necessary animations on the PowerPoint. If it's just a bunch of static slides, I always load into OnCue to present just so I can minimize the amount of open programs. But I'm always concerned about overtaxing my RAM and causing anything to crash. I also find its easier to have all of my trial materials available in one place. And if there is a situation where I have to jump between a PowerPoint and other documentary or video evidence then I will try my best to load it into OnCue so I can easily jump back and forth.
But if there are animations that are important to the presentation (or just important to the attorney who made it) then I just use PowerPoint. And if the .pptx was made on another device, I always run through it to make sure its compatible with my version of PPT because some animations can cause visual issues.
My usual rule is have PowerPoint open for openings/closings and OnCue for everything in-between.
Again, this is just me, and I likely need a new computer with more RAM so I won't be as paranoid.
